Chess Piece Rules:
Pawn: Move forward one square, and can choose to move forward two squares as the first move; move forward diagonally one square when capturing.
King: Can move one square in any direction.
Queen: Can move any distance in any direction (vertical, horizontal or diagonal).
Rook: Can move any distance in the vertical or horizontal direction.
Knight: Moves in an "L" shape - move two squares vertically and then one square horizontally, or move two squares horizontally and then one square vertically.
Elephant: Move any distance diagonally.
Important chess positions:
Check: This is when the king is directly threatened by the opponent's pieces.
Checkmate: When it is the player's turn to move, there is no way to escape from the check.
Draw: When it is the player's turn to move, there is no legal move and the game is a draw.
The goal of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king!
Two special chess moves:
Castling: The king makes a double move with a rook that has never moved.
Passing pawn: When the opponent's pawn jumps over a position that can be attacked by your pawn, you can capture the opponent's pawn.
