How to play:
Setup the Game:
Each player is given a Wonder board and a set of starting resources. The game is divided into three rounds (Ages I, II, and III), with each age introducing a different set of cards. Players begin with a hand of cards from which they will choose one to play.
Drafting Cards:
At the start of each round, players are dealt a hand of cards. Each card represents a building or structure that can be constructed. Players select one card to keep and pass the remaining cards to the next player. This continues until all cards have been chosen. Cards can be used to build structures, gain resources, or earn victory points.
Resource Management:
In order to build structures, you need resources such as wood, stone, and clay. You can gather resources by constructing buildings that provide them or by trading with neighbors. The more efficiently you manage your resources, the more buildings you can construct and the more points you can earn.
Building Structures:
There are several types of structures you can build, including:
Civilian Structures: These provide victory points.
Military Structures: These increase your military strength, which will be compared against your neighbors at the end of each age.
Scientific Structures: These help you advance in science, offering powerful bonuses and victory points.
Commercial Structures: These give you resources or help with resource management.
Guilds: These offer significant points and bonuses in the third age based on your achievements.
Military Conflicts:
At the end of each age, players compare their military strength with their neighboring players. Victory in these conflicts earns military tokens, which contribute to your total score at the end of the game. If you have stronger military than your neighbors, you earn points; if you’re weaker, you lose points.
Progression Through Ages:
As the game progresses, the cards in each age become more advanced. In Age I, you’ll focus on building basic structures, while Age II introduces more powerful buildings, and Age III focuses on guilds and Wonders. You’ll need to adapt your strategy as the game unfolds, using the cards you draft to your advantage.
Wonder Construction:
Each player has a Wonder to build. Wonders are constructed using resources and specific cards. When completed, Wonders give powerful bonuses, either through victory points, additional resources, or special abilities. Completing your Wonder is key to securing victory in the game.
End of the Game:
After three rounds, the game ends. Players tally their points from their buildings, military victories, scientific advancements, and completed Wonders. The player with the most points wins the game.
